“As a family with young children, we spend a significant portion of our family time in the kitchen. With the help and guidance of Smith & Ragsdale, we have built a space that we will share countless memories in. They truly delivered on producing the kitchen of our dreams!” — Neil & Reema

This new home was built in a well-established gated North Dallas community, so the design team got involved with the client and custom home builder from inception.  The ultimate goal was to blend into the community while creating an elegant and still very livable home for the young family.  Our challenge was to take the expansive open floor plan and make it feel intimate and less modern, which was accomplished by designing with a more traditional palette and materials selections.

As with many homes, this custom home needed to be very kitchen-centric to best serve the family.  Meticulously prepared vegetarian Indian cuisine, often served at large family celebrations, called for a meticulously executed kitchen to serve as a backdrop for a very colorful family life.  Our clients requested a classic “white-kitchen”… how many times have we had this request! Our intention was to come up with a design that exceeded their expectation for a typical white kitchen.  In our client’s words: “Every detail was addressed, including specific dimensions of cabinetry and drawers for our dinner and cookware, custom placement for our appliances, and appropriate accessibility to accommodate our family needs… Their expertise and eye for aesthetics resulted in a gorgeous statement wall for our kitchen. Every step of the way during the design process they had a knack for understanding our visions and converting them into reality.”
